School superintendents and others with finance responsibilities will not want to miss this session focused on timely, critical school finance topics. December is the calm before the start of the budget season. Come learn about topics you need to know as you update your budget for this year, and create your budget for next year.
Estimating ADA – The pandemic protection is gone, and we are now going to be paid on the highest WADA of the FY25, FY24 or FY23. Also, the threshold for F/RL in the formula has reduced significantly, so FY25 could very well be your highest year. Understand a safe way to make an estimate for your ADA so you can get those funds this year.
Missouri General Revenue – In early December every year, the Governor, House Budget Director and Senate Budget Director agree to the amount of revenue to be used to create the budget. Hopefully, we will know the updated revenue estimate. We will discuss how trends of general revenue and sales tax look. This will help us understand if we can rely on the revenue promises made in the current budget and what we can expect for funding in FY2026.
Declining Interest Rates – The Effective Fed Funds Rate has steadily increased from 0% in March 2022 to over 5.25% in September 2024. Keeping your funds liquid during that time allowed for you to earn higher rates as the fed raised rates. Learn how understanding your cash flow will allow you to understand your liquidity needs and what ability you have to lock in some of your funds in fixed rate investments to protect against declining short-term rates.
