Itinerary April 8, 2025
We are meeting on the 13th Floor, in the Jefferson Building at 205 Jefferson Street, Jefferson City MO 65101. You may park in the parking garage on Madison Street, which runs parallel to Jefferson Street.
8:30-9 AM Pre-visit at the Jefferson Building
Review the purpose for the day: Promote Public Education.
Review some of the current legislative hot topics being considered by legislature.
Identify potential talking points.
9:00-12:30 PM Two options
Attend the Morning Session of the State School Board Meeting in the Truman Building. Dr. Hedgpeth will escort a group to attend the morning session of the State Board Meeting. This would be a good experience for a teacher or principal who has never attended one of these meetings. We will need a volunteer(s) to drive to the Truman Building. Please email Pam Hedgpeth if you are willing to be a driver for the group.
Visit Legislators. Superintendents are asked to call ahead to schedule a meeting with representatives and senators. Do realize these schedules may change as actions occur in the chambers. This is also a possible time to go to the visitor section to observe activities in the chamber.
12:30-1:15 PM Lunch and Debrief
Regroup at the Jefferson Building in the Commissioner’s Conference Room. Lunch will be provided.
Individuals will be asked to share about their experiences when meeting with legislators or attending the State Board Meeting.
1:15-2 PM Optional Additional Conversations
Participants may choose to return to the capitol for additional legislative conversations.
